What Is XML Sitemap?
An XML sitemap is a machine-readable file listing a site’s important URLs so search engines can discover and crawl them efficiently.
An XML sitemap is a structured file that lists the URLs a website wants search engines to know about, optionally with last-modified dates. It acts as a roadmap that helps crawlers discover pages that might otherwise be missed — new content, deep pages or pages with few internal links.
Sitemaps are especially valuable for large sites, new sites with few backlinks, and sites with rich media. They are usually submitted through Google Search Console and referenced in robots.txt.
