What Is Title Tag?

A title tag is the HTML element that defines a page’s title, displayed as the clickable headline in search results and browser tabs.

The title tag (<title>) is an HTML element that names a web page. It appears as the clickable blue headline in search engine results, in browser tabs, and as the default title when the page is shared or bookmarked.

It is one of the most important on-page SEO elements: search engines weigh the words in the title heavily when deciding what a page is about. Best practice is to keep titles under about 60 characters, lead with the primary keyword, and give every page a unique title.
