What Is Crawl Budget?

Crawl budget is the number of pages a search engine will crawl on a site within a given timeframe, shaped by server capacity and page value.

Crawl budget describes how many URLs a search engine bot is willing and able to crawl on your site per visit. It is determined by your serverโ€™s capacity to respond quickly (crawl rate limit) and how much the engine wants your content (crawl demand).

Small sites rarely need to think about it, but for sites with tens of thousands of URLs, wasted budget on duplicate pages, redirect chains and infinite filter combinations can delay the indexing of pages that actually matter. Clean architecture, fast responses and a good sitemap keep crawling efficient.
