What Is QR Code?

A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode storing data in a grid of squares, readable by phone cameras — most often used for links.

A QR (Quick Response) code stores data in a matrix of black and white squares readable by any modern phone camera. The three large corner squares let scanners locate and orient the code from any angle, while Reed-Solomon error correction keeps codes scannable even when up to 30% damaged.

QR codes hold up to about 4,200 characters — URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, payment details — and scan in under a second, which has made them the standard bridge between physical objects and web content.
